Position Summary: The Business Development Manager – Data Centers defines and implements new business strategies to drive growth and increase market share for Weidmüller’s automation ecosystem into Data Center markets. This role is responsible for identifying and pursuing new sales opportunities, developing strategic relationships, enhancing Weidmüller value proposition and driving profitability. This role will work closely with cross functional teams such as divisional and executive leaders, product management, distribution partners and field sales teams.
Primary Responsibilities
- Uncover, develop, manage, expand and close key sales opportunities to drive Weidmüller’s portfolio within Data Center applications.
- Proactively develop new partner channels ensuring long-term optimization of channel mix by geography.
- Leverage intimate knowledge of global technology trends/advancements and customer buying patterns to guide strategic product planning including competitive analysis, sales strategy, market share attainment and partner engagement.
- Capture specialized product needs through direct engagement with customers and through information exchange and market / application analysis with regional business sales and marketing personnel.
- Prepare detailed proposals tailored to specific client needs, highlighting the value proposition of Weidmüller’s data center solutions and addressing potential concerns.
- Accurately forecast sales pipeline and provide regular updates on sales performance through detailed reports and presentations to management.
- Attendance at events and tradeshows that specialize in the data center market to generate new leads and grow brand awareness.
- Fully utilize CRM as a communication, reporting, and measurement tool to enhance productivity.
- Participation in local, regional, and international meetings.
- Ensures thorough familiarity with and compliance to all Environmental, Safety and Security Policies while performing assigned duties in accordance with those policies.
- Conducts tasks in accordance with applicable health, safety, quality, environmental and security regulations (state/federal laws, ISO 9001, CFR 1910 OSHA) as well as Company policies and procedures.
- Responsible for notifying direct supervisor, manager and/or a member of the Executive Staff of any risks associated with the Quality Management System.
- All other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Strong technical understanding of Data Center technologies, systems and applications.
- Strong understanding of how to sell industrial automation systems, IIoT and Industry 4.0.
- Demonstrable examples of lead generation, exceeding sales targets and building commercial relationships.
- Established connections and associated network of clients withing the Data Center market segment.
- Tactful and assertive decision maker capable of navigating challenging situations.
- Ability to have technical conversations, gather and review engineering drawings, analyze designs and understand system specifications.
- Strong ability to influence as needed, effectively conveying ideas and gaining buy-in for strategic initiatives.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
- Bachelor’s degree (MS/MBA highly preferred) in Engineering, Information Technology, Data/Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 10 years of experience related to developing business strategies and closing solutions to technical application challenges.
- Involvement in data center or industry organizations highly desired.
- Demonstrated experience promoting and presenting products and solutions directly to end users.
Travel Requirements & Physical Demands
- Must be able to travel up to 50% of time as dictated by business need (including overnight and international).
- Must be able to travel via airplane.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate an automobile for up to six hours at a time.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. (samples, demos, literature).
