The Clinician will be responsible for providing mental health support for students and families in two Bronx Community Schools in the same building. Responsible for the preparation of goal-oriented individual and group counseling, staff workshops, and program enrichment. Clinician will provide mental health guidance to teachers and staff as well as participate and provide expert/professional support in treatment team meetings concerning mental health issues and behavior management.
General Responsibilities
Will coordinate and provide weekly individual and group counseling services in order to address youth’s behaviors and mental health concerns.
Responsible for the oversight and execution of all therapeutic requirements for the program, as assigned.
Facilitate mental health workshops for parents and families.
Provide teachers with mental health assistance and resources to promote healthy mental health and socio- emotional learning in their classrooms.
Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation to students when necessary.
Maintain clinical records and progress notes and submit monthly updates.
Contribute to weekly school team meetings to provide mental health and educational updates.
Assist parents navigating various challenges through home visits, parent training and referrals to community services.
Attending and participating in educational trainings and workshops pertinent to school social work.
Any other related duties as required.

Computer – The Clinician must be able to use a computer and able to learn software programs
Office Equipment- The Clinician is required to operate a fax, copier, scan, and other office equipment.
Communication - The Clinician needs to be able to speak, read and write fluently in the English language
Writing - The Clinician must be able to write in the English language using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.
Lifting - The Clinician may frequently lift 0-25 lbs., occasionally lift 25-50 lbs., and rarely lift over 50 lbs.
Push/Pull - The Clinician may frequently push/pull 0-25 lbs. of force, occasionally push/pull 26-45 lbs. force, and rarely push/pull over 45 lbs.
Sitting, Standing and Walking – The Clinician will be required to sit, stand and walk throughout the work day.
Stooping -The Clinician may occasionally stoop. This is defined as bending body downward by bending spine at the waist.
Kneeling -The Clinician may occasionally kneel. This is defined as bending legs at knees to come to rest on knee(s).
Crouching - The Clinician may occasionally crouch. This is defined as bending body downward and forward by bending spine and legs.
Work environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate due to talk and movement of the program participants and other co- workers. The noise level can increase on occasion due to yelling or screaming by the participants of the programs.
Qualifications
LCAT, LMHC, LMSW (Preferred)
Minimum 2 years counseling experience with children. Experience working in a school setting. Experience with Evidence-Based Models. Strong interest in working with children and families of diverse cultural backgrounds.
Strong clinical, communication and presentation skills, including the ability to facilitate trainings.
Proficiency in Spanish and English both written and oral are preferred.
