The Contracts Manager will be responsible for ensuring the project adheres to all contractual and environmental requirements. This person shall be fully knowledgeable in design/build contracts, contract interpretation, DDOT’s protocols and requirements and design standard interpretation.

This position will heavy interact with project team executives, front end executives, subcontractor’s management and Clark’s senior and executive management to resolve issues in a prompt and efficient manner. The contract management process is very time sensitive and requires meeting strict deadlines by all your team members. Other tasks may include evaluation and making decisions on the presentation of financial information in our corporate accounting system based on information received from project teams, and evaluate contract requests to ensure corporate compliance. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, have strong computer skills, strong communication, and willing to work in a deadline-driven environment

Qualifications / Requirements

  • A degree (BA, BS) in a related field of study.
  • Have at least 15 years’ relevant experience, and performed a comparable function within the last five years. Minimum of 4-6 years related experience or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge in the field of contract negotiation.
  • Understanding of business law and contract law
  • Demonstrated experience in both design and construction of complex urban highway, bridge, transit and river crossing projects
  • Be a licensed Professional Engineer
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal including interfacing with senior level staff members, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and posses strong computer skills.
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills and critical thinking skills.
  • Able to work independently but have a clear understanding of risk involved and to solicit management’s involvement if required.
  • Understanding of the appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Management of multiple direct reports is a plus.

The work environment and requirements described below are representative of those necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.

The Physical Side of the Role: This is an active, hands-on role. You can expect to be on your feet frequently, navigating active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists. The work is physically demanding and requires a full range of motion, including bending, kneeling, and reaching. You’ll need to be comfortable frequently lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. This role requires the ability to communicate effectively, as well as visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work. The role does include desk time in the office that may require prolonged periods of sitting for tasks like computer work, document review, and meetings.

Your Work Environment: You’ll spend a significant amount of your time on active construction sites, which means being adaptable to all kinds of weather and moderate to loud noise levels, and comfortable in elevated or confined work areas with moving mechanical equipment and with the fast-paced nature of a project in progress. You will also spend time in a typical office setting with moderate noise levels.
