Controller – Nonprofit (CPA Required)

Philadelphia, PA (Hybrid Schedule)

$130,000 – $140,000 + Bonus + Benefits

firstPRO is seeking a Controller on behalf of a well-established nonprofit organization in Philadelphia. This is a high-visibility leadership role that oversees financial operations, works closely with the executive team, and regularly presents to the Board of Directors.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the organization’s financial operations, including accounting, reporting, and compliance.
• Serve as the primary financial liaison to the Board of Directors, presenting updates and strategic recommendations.
• Supervise and mentor one staff accountant.
• Ensure accuracy of financial statements and adherence to GAAP and nonprofit regulations.
• Provide insight and recommendations on process improvements and long-term financial strategy.

What We’re Looking For

• CPA required.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including time as a Controller or Director of Finance.
• Nonprofit sector experience strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, with proven success engaging and presenting to boards of directors.
• Collaborative leadership style with the ability to oversee and develop staff.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $130,000 – $140,000 base + 3–10% performance bonus.
• Benefits include:
• 23 days PTO in year one

• Schedule: Onsite 5 days/week during tax season (Jan 20–May 30), then 3 days/week onsite (Mon, Tue, Thu) June–December.
