The Diet Technician plays a key role in supporting the clinical nutrition program and planning balanced, nutritious menus. You'll work closely with the Dietitian to ensure accurate documentation for individuals served, co-chair the Nutritional Care Committee, and assist the Food Service Manager to make sure every individual’s dietary needs are met. Your attention to detail and collaboration will ensure the highest standards of care and help improve the wellbeing of those you serve. Your work makes a difference in their health and happiness!
Key Responsibilities
Nutritional Assessment and Counseling: Assess individuals served for nutritional needs, assist the Dietitian in providing counseling to individuals and families, and prepare diet cards accordingly.
Data Management: Maintain reporting systems for supplements, snacks, and nutrition-related data, ensuring all dietary information is logged and up-to-date.
Menu Design: Assist in designing cycle menus to meet the nutritional needs of individuals served.
Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity when providing care, ensuring nutrition services are respectful and tailored to individual backgrounds.
Policy and Sanitation Audits: Help maintain annual policy updates, contribute to new policy development, and perform monthly sanitation audits of all serving areas, attending relevant committee meetings.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field.
Experience:
Preferred: Experience in management.
Certifications:
Required: American Dietetic Association registration as a Diet Technician or eligible for the exam; Must obtain ServSafe Certification within three (3) months of employment.
