The Director, Chief of Staff for Public Sector is an essential leadership partner and serves as a trusted advisor to the Officer. This role drives strategic planning, people management, and operational excellence. This position ensures organizational alignment and cultivates a high-performance culture, while enabling cross-functional collaboration to advance company goals.

The Director, Chief of Staff will play a pivotal role in driving transformation, ensuring operational consistency, and elevating the organization’s impact. We’re seeking an accomplished leader with a passion for public service.

Key Roles and Responsibilities: Typical tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Strategic Planning & Execution: Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of strategic initiatives and business plans that support company objectives and Public Sector priorities to drive business growth. Direct planning and execution of critical projects and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Operations & Resource Management: Oversee executive operations, fiscal planning, and talent strategy to ensure optimal allocation of resources that maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Collaboration & Coordination: Act as a central point of contact and work collaboratively with the leadership team to drive engagement, foster a culture of transparency, and enable strong cross-functional partnerships. Lead recurring business reviews applying structured decision-making processes, driving clarity and follow-through on key priorities and alignment to strategic goals.
  • Performance Management: Track key performance indicators (KPIs), prepare comprehensive reports, and deliver actionable insights to inform executive decision-making and drive organizational success. Anticipate and solve organizational “pain points,” removing obstacles and optimizing processes for efficiency and clarity.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment. Promote professional development, manage performance, and mentor team members to maintain operational stability in a dynamic environment. Cultivate a culture of partnership, transparency, and performance excellence.
  • Communications: Lead the communication and engagement strategy for the Officer and organization, preparing materials for executive reviews, board updates, and key events. Facilitate clear and effective communication between the Officer and internal and external stakeholders while managing priorities and scheduling.
  • Strategic Support: Serve as a strategic advisor, leading the planning and follow-up on customer engagements, to drive business development and long-term relationship management. Represent the Officer as an ambassador for Public Sector’s mission, vision, and values in executive forums, steering committees, and external engagements.
  • Discretion & Confidentiality: Exercise sound judgment and strict discretion, upholding the highest standards of privacy and security in handling sensitive executive communications and documents.


Required Qualifications:

  • Executive presence with strong briefing and decision-making skills, delivering concise, insightful communications tailored to Public Sector audiences.
  • Proven leadership ability to inspire teams and achieve measurable results.
  • Ability to work independently and serve as a trusted advisor to senior and executive leaders.
  • Exceptional organizational skills to efficiently manage schedules, meetings, and competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Advanced project management expertise, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while adapting to change.
  • Proactive problem solver who anticipates needs and drives continuous process improvements.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with experience preparing clear, concise briefing materials and government correspondence.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and experience managing complex budgets and operations. Proven ability to leverage data-driven insights to address complex challenges unique to government environments.
  • Demonstrated initiative in identifying and implementing process improvements while leading high-impact projects and developing innovative business strategies.
  • 7+ years of experience in government operations with expertise in regulations and emerging public sector trends.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, calendar management, and virtual collaboration tools.


Desired Qualifications

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired.
  • Prior experience supporting senior leadership operations.
  • Top Secret Clearance


Our Director – Chief of Staff's earn between $174,100 - $261,100. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
