Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, experienced, and proactive Director of Accounting to lead the accounting operations and reporting function for one of the Company’s core strategies: Fleet Data Centers. This role is ideal for a strong individual contributor who thrives in high-growth, entrepreneurial environments and has experience building accounting teams and scalable processes from the ground up. The Director will play a key role in implementing critical accounting technologies and establishing best-in-class financial operations.
The Director of Accounting Operations will report to the SVP of Accounting and will be responsible for all aspects of accounting operations for Fleet Data Centers. Responsibilities include managing the monthly close process across multiple entities and jurisdictions, consolidation, accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial reporting, tax compliance, audit preparation, system implementation, and other ad hoc duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have experience and practical expertise in the following:
Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting
Oversee daily accounting operations, including cash management, accounts receivable, prepaids, fixed assets, revenue recognition, and general ledger reconciliations.
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process across a multi-entity structure and prepare GAAP-compliant consolidated financial statements, investor financial statements and management reports.
Support operational insight through timely financial reporting and variance analysis in partnership with FP&A and business leaders.
Direct development accounting for large-scale data center projects, including capitalization of costs (labor, interest, etc.), coordination with construction teams, and accurate transfer of assets from WIP to in-service in accordance with GAAP and company policy.
Technical Accounting & Tax Coordination
Assist in researching, documenting, and applying US GAAP to complex transactions (e.g., leases, revenue recognition, equity, investment company accounting).
Support REIT compliance and coordinate with tax advisors on federal, state, and local matters, including indirect taxes and property tax planning.
Process & Systems Optimization
Establish foundational accounting policies and workflows—such as capitalization of internal labor, lease abstraction protocols, and fixed asset accounting standards—to support scalable operations across development-stage and operational assets.
Design and maintain scalable accounting policies, workflows, and control frameworks to ensure audit readiness and reporting accuracy.
Lead implementation of key systems, including consolidation tools, CRM integrations, and account reconciliation platforms.
Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, fund accounting, investor relations, project management, and legal teams to ensure accounting processes align with contractual, financial, and operational requirements.
Team Building & Leadership
Hire, develop, and mentor staff as the department grows.
Foster a high-performance culture centered on accountability, continuous learning, and excellence.
Required Traits, Expertise, And Skills
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA /MBA strongly preferred.
Proven ability to build and scale accounting operations in a high-growth environment.
Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, consolidations, and technical accounting matters.
Industry experience in data centers, real estate, or infrastructure is required.
Proficiency in ERP systems such as NetSuite, and advanced Excel capabilities.
Familiarity with REITs and international operations is a plus.
Experience: 10+ years of experience
Travel and Schedule: Hybrid.
Expected Salary Range
Base Salary: $150,000–$175,000 plus annual bonus potential
