Base pay range
Global Risks Solutions (GRS), Liberty Mutual’s global business which operates in
nearly thirty countries, seeks a Director of Executive Engagement and Thought
Leadership to build and lead an integrated executive engagement and thought
leadership strategy. This role operates in a fast-paced, highly matrixed,
exciting, and complex environment. The Director of Executive Engagement and
Thought Leadership is accountable to the SVP, Business Alignment.
- Success in this role will require a savvy engagement leader with an integrated mindset and strong sense of stakeholder ecosystems to partner within the business, with enterprise brand and communications, public affairs, talent/learning and development, sustainability, strategy, investor relations, marketing, and others to positively position the president with a consistent voice and approach to enable achievement of organizational goals and strategy.
- The head of executive engagement will be expected to develop close partnerships to understand the strategic direction of each area and complement this with exceptional planning and organization to connect dots and drive efficiency and impact across messages, audiences, and tactics, while also building and executing an integrated strategy for the business.
- This leader will have a strong understanding of the intersection of policy, communications, and brand and keep a strong pulse on the marketplace in concert with enterprise brand and communications to identify and present various opportunities for visibility and impact, and will partner closely with the president’s executive assistant to prepare for various meetings and events as well as with the alignment team for opportunities globally, internally and externally.
- Specifically, the Director of Executive Engagement and Thought Leadership will author and lead the ongoing evolution of the GRS-wide engagement strategy, comprehensive of
- communications goals, approaches, tactics, project management, execution and measurement.
- A strong and concise writer, this engagement leader will have exceptional ability to prepare or oversee a high-volume of tight, clear and actionable tactics such as: scripts, PowerPoint presentations, speeches, and other written materials that represent the business and its leader, while simultaneously keeping them tightly on track.
- The Director of Executive engagement will partner with the SVP, Business Alignment and other alignment leaders to drive continuous improvement of the engagement
- and communications ecosystem to drive effectiveness and efficiency.
- This leader will also liaise with external boards and other entities for coordination on related communication strategies and tactics. Responsible for identification,
- overseeing and/or execution of the full scope of the commitment, with execution support from alignment, including but not limited to: prep calls, giveaways, ads, and run of show prior, post-event communications.
- People leadership preferred as this role may manage others on a direct or indirect basis
- This position is preferably Boston-based, with a hybrid working schedule. Other locations will be considered depending on experience. The individual should have flexibility
- for in-office support and offsite support where needed and may include travel.
Change management & agility: Lead agile and change management initiatives to adapt executive engagement approaches in a dynamic global environment.
Global inclusion: Champion cultural fluency to ensure inclusive and globally relevant executive communication and thought leadership.
Technology / AI: Incorporate emerging technologies to enhance engagement effectiveness.
Stakeholder partnership: Extend partnership beyond internal functions to strategic external stakeholders such as industry influencers, think tanks, government entities, and international
bodies to broaden thought leadership reach.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Experience in politics on Capitol Hill and/or campaigns strongly preferred
- Advanced knowledge of communications planning tools
- Exceptional writer and ability to synthesize complex, converging messages
- Insurance industry experience strongly preferred but not required
- Excellent organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail, to
- include regularly anticipating needs and being proactive
- Displays high degree of professionalism in order to maintain confidential information, deal with people tactfully, and help establish strong relationships and positive communication
- Excellent ability to read and respond to subtle clues and react with situational appropriateness
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and 10+ years of relevant communication experience, to include prior experience providing communications leadership support at an executive level. Master’s degree preferred
- Prior experience supporting C-level executives in a financial services organization is strongly preferred
Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
