Base pay range
Director, Public Policy, South/Southeast US Responsibilities:
- Work directly with state policymakers to promote the safe and efficient use of internet technologies and economic development in the region
- Monitor the political environment and identify opportunities to advance state policies that benefit the company, the state, and our local communities where we reside
- Work closely with industry groups, nonprofits and legislative organizations to promote company objectives for economic development and a safe, secure, and open internet
- Manage relationships with state policymakers
- Ensure that Meta cross-functional partners and internal stakeholders receive timely updates on developments
- Develop strategies for engagement with chambers of commerce, industry associations, non-profits, and civil society groups to advance priorities in region
- Manage two Meta State Policy personnel in broader region while also individually responsible for 3-5 states
- Advise Meta teams on public policy matters to guide development of products, services and policies
- Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years of experience in state public policy, advocacy, or government affairs
- Experience with the political process, policymakers, and stakeholders in region and proven relationships in region
- Proven familiarity with the technology and economic development policy and advocacy landscape in region
- Experience leading cross-functional teams
- Experience as a people and budget manager
- Demonstrated experience creating and implement advocacy campaigns directly relevant to state government, including achieving short and long term milestones related to advancing policy, political and/or advocacy goals
- Innovative problem-solving, negotiation, and multi-tasking skills in time-sensitive settings
- Experience communicating nuanced concepts to a wide array of audiences
- Willingness to travel (primarily in-region) up to 60% of the time based on need
- Previous state policy experience in tech or tech-adjacent industry
- Experience managing trade associations and contract lobbyists
- Law or Master’s degree

$228,000/year to $291,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
