Financial Analyst (Auto Dealership)

My client, a dynamic automotive dealership based in North Bethesda, MD, seeks a detail-oriented and forward-thinking Financial Analyst.

This role supports strategic and operational decision-making by analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and uncovering untapped opportunities. A successful candidate will bring a strong foundation in financial principles and a passion for applying AI tools and technologies to elevate forecasting, reporting, and performance evaluation across our dealership network.

This is a role for a candidate with 2-6 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

• Analyze dealership P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flows to provide actionable insights.
• Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial models tailored to individual dealerships and departments.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and profit-enhancing strategies.

Data-Driven Opportunity Identification

• Detect missed revenue opportunities in vehicle sales, service upsells, and F&I products by analyzing KPIs.
• Benchmark store performance across the group to highlight underperforming areas.
• Analyze inventory turns, advertising ROI, and lead conversion metrics to propose improvements.

AI Integration & Automation

• Utilize AI-powered tools to automate reporting and identify performance patterns.
• Collaborate with IT/data teams to integrate AI solutions into sales, CRM, and service data streams.
• Support the rollout of AI-driven solutions for real-time alerting and recommendation systems across locations.

Reporting & Communication

• Prepare concise reports and executive dashboards for dealership GMs and the executive team.
• Present insights clearly in cross-functional meetings and help guide strategic planning.
• Support audits and compliance reviews with accurate, timely documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
• 3–5 years of experience in financial analysis, preferably within the automotive or retail industry.
• Proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and ERP systems.
• Experience with AI tools strongly preferred.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills to relay complex financial topics to non-financial stakeholders.
