Crane Service Company is seeking an experienced and highly organized Fleet Manager to oversee the maintenance, safety, and utilization of our fleet of cranes, support vehicles, trailers, and specialized lifting equipment. The Fleet Manager plays a critical role in ensuring our equipment is compliant, road-ready, and operating at peak performance to support crane rental, transportation, and storage operations.
This role requires a hands-on leader with a strong understanding of DOT regulations, preventative maintenance scheduling, and heavy equipment diagnostics—ideally within the crane or construction industries.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations of the company’s fleet, including cranes, service trucks, trailers, and support vehicles.
Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules and inspection programs to reduce downtime.
Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements for fleet operations.
Monitor and manage fleet repair needs, working closely with in-house mechanics or third-party vendors.
Maintain detailed records of equipment inspections, repairs, registrations, and certifications.
Manage GPS tracking, telematics systems, and equipment usage logs to improve asset efficiency.
Coordinate fleet assignments and availability with project managers and dispatch.
Evaluate equipment performance and recommend replacements, upgrades, or disposals.
Control fleet-related expenses including fuel, maintenance, and parts procurement in collaboration with the Purchasing Agent.
Train and support drivers and operators on vehicle safety, inspections, and proper documentation.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience managing fleets in crane rental, heavy equipment, construction, or transportation industries.
Deep knowledge of DOT compliance, CDL requirements, and equipment maintenance best practices.
Strong leadership and organizational skills with a hands-on, proactive approach.
Experience with fleet management software or systems.
Familiarity with crane types, rigging equipment, and hydraulic systems a strong plus.
High school diploma required; technical certifications or degree in logistics, automotive technology, or related field preferred.
CDL (Class A or B) a plus but not required.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of telematics, GPS, and fuel monitoring systems.
Budgeting and cost-control experience related to fleet operations.
Ability to work cross-functionally with field crews, dispatch, safety, and administrative teams.
