Are you a detail-loving accountant who enjoys diving into the general ledger, balancing books, and collaborating across departments? This may be the right opportunity.

Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital is seeking a meticulous and proactive General Ledger Accountant to support the Finance team. Reporting to the Controller, this position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close, and providing timely reporting that drives mission-focused decision-making.

    • Monthly and annual financial statements
  • Maintain and update monthly close schedules
  • Assist the Controller with audit preparation and IRS Form 990 workpapers
  • Support department managers with financial reporting and analysis
  • Review journal entries from the Finance & Accounting Specialist prior to posting
  • Collaborate with the Philanthropy team on the funding pipeline

  • Clear and effective communication, including with non-financial colleagues
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
  • Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus (but not required)
  • Familiarity with the Girl Scout movement is welcome

To ensure alignment with the technical requirements of the role, strong candidates will be asked to complete a brief accounting exercise later in the hiring process, focused on journal entries and financial statement fundamentals.
