Job Title: GIS Land Specialist (GIS Tech I)

Job Summary

Our utility client is seeking four GIS Land Specialists to support the Land Department with spatial data systems, cartographic products, and GIS project support. This entry-level role is ideal for recent geography graduates or individuals with up to two years of GIS-related experience. You’ll assist with map creation, database maintenance, and enterprise GIS support while gaining exposure to utility-scale land operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and update GIS databases with accurate geographic data
• Produce basic and advanced cartographic products, including exhibit maps for land acquisition and project update maps
• Combine data from multiple sources to create visualizations and support feasibility studies
• Support GIS Analysts on larger geospatial projects
• Perform data QA/QC and ensure adherence to metadata and data standards
• Participate in GIS software training and skill development

Required Qualifications

• 0–2 years of GIS-related experience or recent graduate with GIS coursework
• Certificate or diploma in Geographic Information Systems or related field
• Familiarity with ArcGIS software (ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro)
• Basic geoprocessing and editing capabilities
• Strong cartographic and data visualization skills
• Effective written and verbal communication
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ArcGIS Online, Enterprise Portal, or ArcServer
• Knowledge of enterprise GIS databases and data integration
• Exposure to utility, land acquisition, or infrastructure-related GIS work
