The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain all aspects of House of Ruth Maryland’s federal, state, local, and private grants. This includes but is not limited to, tracking grant expenditures, completing monthly grant reconciliations, preparing and submitting budget modifications, ensuring compliance with various grant rules and regulations, conducting salary and payroll analysis as it relates to grants, and preparing grant invoices and financial reports for funders. In addition this position may assist with general operations accounting.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Provide oversight of grants by monitoring grant activity, including reviewing expenditures, appropriate recording of expenses to the general ledger, and appropriate recording of staff salary to grants
Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements for grant activities
Conducts grant reconciliations, billing schedules, and billing support document packages. Reads, reviews, and understands grant requirements, rules, reporting, and deadlines for billing, performance, and schedules
Prepare and submit budget modifications to funders as needed; understand the budget modification process and rules/requirements for each funder
Assists in revenue recognition, month/quarter/year end close assignments, or to correct postings or make reclassifications. Examples include prepaid expenses, investments, allocations of insurance, ETO costs to grants, cell phone cost allocations, and fixed asset schedules and entries
Assists with maintaining grant and payroll schedules for department use and dissemination of information to other departments (salary spread, grant assignments)
Assists with financial reporting for internal and external purposes, as assigned by the Grants and Finance manager
Work closely with assigned program managers to monitor grant budgets, ensure spend-down of grants, submit budget modifications as needed, and/or identify challenges related to the grant
Recommends changes to financial procedures and internal controls
Recommends changes to grant accounts in accordance with grant guidelines
Makes monthly/quarterly/annual journal entries for grants into Intacct based on assignments
Meets program standards for timely, accurate reporting. Works within financial program guidelines. Ensure grants are reconciled and billed in accordance with funder requirements and on time.
Completes month/quarter/year end assignments on time and accurately
Follows established policies and procedures
Uses good customer services attitude in all situations

Pay range: $65,000 - $72,000
Experience, Education, Certifications/Licenses
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar field (or equivalent work experience) required.
Ability to work independently and accurately.
Good analytical skills. Identify questions and issues while performing work requirements.
Ability to design and use EXCEL spreadsheets. Power user of Office products, and ability to utilize Intacct.
Effectively manage assignments and calendar daily.
Energetic team player with excellent interpersonal communication and problem solving skills.
Maintains confidentiality with access to significant personal data and personnel data.
Experience with grant reconciliations and reporting a plus.
Ability to learn and follow instructions to complete assignments each month/period consistently.
Ability to understand intimate partner violence and how it affects the client population.
Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
Ability to pass a criminal background and credit history check.
