The Health and Safety Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring operational efficiency and protecting the organization's reputation by fostering a culture of safety excellence. This role requires proactive leadership, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement across all solar energy project sites.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement Safety Policies (30%) Create, maintain, and promote safety policies tailored to solar energy projects, ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
- Conduct Training and Education (20%) Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and contractors, addressing solar-specific risks and maintaining training records.
- Perform Site Inspections and Audits (20%) Conduct safety inspections and audits of solar project sites, document findings, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance and Reporting (10%) Stay updated on safety regulations, ensuring all necessary permits, reports, and documentation are completed and submitted timely.
- Drive Continuous Improvement (10%) Monitor safety performance metrics, identify trends, and implement improvements to enhance safety practices.
- Review Contracts for Safety Requirements (10%) Evaluate and provide feedback on project contracts to ensure adherence to safety standards.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 5–7 years in a safety management role, with experience in the solar or renewable energy sector.
- Certifications: OSHA 30/510 certification.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Comprehensive understanding of OSHA, EPA, NFPA 70E, and other safety regulations.
- Expertise in electrical safety, fall protection systems, construction safety, and hazardous material management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety management software.
- Experience: Familiarity with distributed generation solar projects or utility-scale solar farm construction.
- Certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent.
- Skills: Project management expertise and experience integrating safety systems in renewable energy projects.
