Under general supervision, is responsible for directing the activities of a crew of workers, ensuring schedules are followed and decisions are made on a variety of problems, informing supervisors of more complex problems. Exercises functional supervision over assigned staff.
Work Location
Based in downtown San Antonio in various parking garages and lot locations.
Work Schedule
6:15am-3:00pm, rotating schedules Monday - Friday & Saturday - Wednesday. Work hours/days may be subject to change to include weekends, nights, holidays, and special events as needed.
Essential Job Functions
Oversees a work crew involved in a variety of maintenance duties which may include sweeping or cleaning, mowing, trimming and custodial maintenance of assigned City parking lots, garages, and buildings.
Repairs or replaces equipment at City buildings parking facilities.
Participates in the construction, maintenance, and repair of assigned City buildings and parking facilities, occasionally lifting and carrying equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Inspects work areas before, during, and upon completion of work to ensure the quality and adherence to safety procedures.
Inspects equipment and reports any equipment in need of maintenance or repair.
Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies and ensures that adequate levels of stock are maintained.
Develops work schedules and ensures timely completion of work.
Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
Two (2) years of experience in labor or maintenance.
Must possess the appropriate Texas Driver's License plus any required endorsements within six (6) months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in inspiring, encouraging and leading teams.
Experience developing and implementing performance monitoring systems, conducting regular evaluations, and providing ongoing support to ensure high-quality work.
Experience operating various janitorial equipment, including floor buffers, carpet cleaners, and pressure washers, ensuring efficient and effective cleaning operations. This also involves regular maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
Applicant Information
Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
