The Manager of Event Operations directs and administers the operations and execution of special events and public programs in the Library of Congress. The individual is responsible for setting annual and multi-year work plans and systems. Oversee and manages administration and budgeting including building short and long term goals, developing and improving policies and procedures, and managing projects. Performs other administrative and budget management responsibilities as needed. Oversees the Supervisory Event Operations Specialist, Financial Management Specialist, and Materials Handler Supervisor. The position provides operational oversight for official functions, including, but not limited to, ceremonies, exhibition openings, seminar, conferences, performances, receptions, breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. The events also include congressionally sponsored events and events hosted by approved outside organizations in the Library’s spaces. The Manager of Event Operations works under the general supervision of the Director of Special Events and Public Programs who provides policy guidance and direction appropriate
to the work assigned. Assignments often involve strategic planning and managing several separate subordinate projects or events that must be carried out concurrently and regularly outside normal business hours including early mornings, late nights and weekends.
