Mechanical Design Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer for a short-term contract (3–6 months) to support our Defense/Aerospace client in Atlanta as it works through a backlog of design projects. This role is ideal for engineers with strong drafting experience and a passion for precision design. You’ll be working in a fast-paced environment, contributing to multiple design reviews weekly and producing high-quality CAD drawings using Softworks.

Rate Range: $40/hour to $55/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Responsibilities:

• Generate detailed mechanical design drawings using SolidWorks CAD (approx. 80% of workload).
• Participate in 4–5 design reviews per week, supporting up to 20 drawings per review.
• Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary information and clarify design requirements.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical design or drafting-intensive roles.
• Proficiency in GD&T and understanding of its application in manufacturing.
• Experience with Softworks CAD or similar CAD software.
