Overview:

The Risk Management Consultant position provides leadership by (1) cultivating and maintaining positive UE broker and member relations, (2) demonstrating in-depth familiarity with UE’s risk management resources, (3) developing expertise in a broad array of education liability risk management topics, (4) fielding risk management inquiries, (5) developing, presenting, and facilitating workshops, presentations, and speeches (6) researching, writing, and developing risk management resources and (7) helping with the implementation of key projects and working with UE management to advance solutions to business issues.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide proactive and expert guidance on educational liability risks to internal and external constituents, moving easily between different segments (university, college, K-12, etc.), and supporting member satisfaction and retention.
  • Identify and implement effective loss control strategies tailored to educational institutions, leveraging data insights, member feedback, and industry best practices to reduce the frequency and severity of claims.
  • Create and deliver presentations to external constituents that adequately represent United Educators’ risk management thought leadership in substance and professionalism, address specific audience (or campus) needs appropriately, and support business development or member stewardship as necessary.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of internal strategic risk management projects.
  • Promote and coordinate the delivery of UE’s risk management resources for constituents.
  • Develop and maintain subject matter expertise on key educational liability risks.
  • Research and develop written or other multi-media risk management resources on assigned risk management topics and data, incorporating AI tools to enhance content quality, efficiency, and insights.
  • Serve as company expert on critical risk areas, speaking authoritatively and fielding media inquiries.
  • Record all member and broker interactions with consistency in both form and substance in customer management system, informing UE organization in usable and meaningful way.


Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree required; advanced degree or 5+ years of experience in risk management, law, business, or education preferred
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills
  • Excellent analytical skills including the ability to analyze data & identify trends
  • Strong project management skills
  • Outstanding collaboration and communication skills across different stakeholders both internally and externally, including researchers, underwriters, salespeople, attorneys, brokers, education institution Risk Managers, CFOs, HR Directors, Presidents, among others
  • Passion for serving education
  • Attitude of openness and flexibility to taking on new projects while balancing existing duties
  • Enthusiasm for analyzing risks and advising educational institutions on solutions. Ability to think and speak extemporaneously on important risk topics
  • A background in, or willingness to develop an expertise in enterprise risk management (ERM)
  • An innovative mindset and ability to thrive in an environment of change
  • Demonstrated interest in emerging technologies, including the ability to identify and propose practical applications of artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance risk consulting services
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to travel as needed (up to 25%)


The below annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.


Salary Range: $88,000 USD - $120,000 USD

  • Dental Insurance — Two plan levels are available, depending on needs.

  • 401(k) — UE makes a 3% safe harbor non-elective contribution beginning the first of the month after date of hire; these funds are vested immediately. After one year of service, employees receive a 7% profit sharing non-elective contribution, as well as become eligible for a matched contribution of 25% of the first 5% employee deferral. Employees can make pre-tax contributions or taxed (Roth) salary reductions. Catch-up contributions for employees 50 years old and over. Employer contributions are fully vested three years from eligibility date.
  • Life Insurance — UE pays for Basic Life Insurance, and employees have the option to apply for additional Voluntary coverage.
  • Short- and Long-Term Disability Insurance — We offer coverage in the event employees are unable to work for a period of time.
  • For the first two years of employment, employees accrue PTO at 24 days per year. At the beginning of the third year of service, employees accrue 30 days per year of PTO.
  • 11 paid holidays annually including Juneteenth and an employee choice floating holiday
  • Bonus eligibility is based on salary earned and performance for the year.
