Donohoe Construction Company is seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our fast-paced general contracting team in the DMV area! In this role, you’ll work side by side with our Controller, serving as a key right-hand partner in managing the day-to-day accounting operations—from job costing and WIP reports to AIA billing and subcontractor payments. Handling and updating subcontractor required documents
Examples include lien waivers & contracts
Sales & Use tax filings (DC, MD & VA)
Monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations
Subcontractor communications (when necessary)
Invoice workflow oversight
Ensure proper routing of invoices for approvals with project management.
Ensure efficiency and accuracy across all accounting functions & ensure adherence to internal controls
Year-end audit assistance with outside accounting firm
Conduct/review weekly check runs to pay miscellaneous payables
Qualifications
BA/BS degree in accounting or related field
7+ years of experience as an accountant, project accountant, or similar
General contractor accounting experience preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, primarily Microsoft Excel
Ability to interact well with colleagues and external contacts
Ability to work well under deadlines and manage multiple tasks
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Public accounting experience preferred, not required
Knowledge of internal controls

Physical Demands
The work is mostly sedentary with periods of light physical activity. Employee to walk or stand for short or mid periods; lift and carry up to 20 pounds; climb stairs, bend, reach, hold, grasp, and turn objects; and operate standard office equipment (computer, keyboard, phone and printer). The work requires the ability to speak clearly and to see and hear clearly with or without correction.
Work Environment
Primary work is performed indoors in a standard office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is subject to inflexible deadlines. Employee may be subject to work beyond the normal scheduled work hours.
Telework
As a full-time corporate-office based job, this position is eligible for teleworking in accordance with the Company’s Telework Policy. Approval by the position’s supervisor and Division President is required.
Pay Range
The expected base pay range for this position is $100,000 - $110,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors such as qualifications and experience.
