Job Title: Senior Accountant – Commercial Real Estate

Location: Remote | Full-Time | Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (overtime as needed)

Position Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant with experience in commercial real estate to support the financial management of a portfolio that includes medical office buildings and other commercial assets. This role is responsible for full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and partnering with internal teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and insight-driven financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for both internal use and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct variance analysis comparing actual results to budget and prior periods.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes across the property portfolio.
  • Ensure financial compliance with regulatory and industry standards, particularly within property management and healthcare-related assets.
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting and support reporting needs for joint ventures.

General Accounting Operations

  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including journal entries, accounts payable/receivable review, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Review lease agreements to ensure proper revenue recognition.
  • Participate in CAM, property tax, and insurance reconciliations.
  • Support audit processes by preparing documentation and addressing auditor inquiries.
  • Utilize accounting and property management software (e.g., Yardi, Avid) to maintain accurate financial records.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with property management, asset management, and finance teams to support financial decision-making.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial materials for internal meetings and third-party stakeholders.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies or client inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Enter leases into Accounting Software

Special Projects & Strategic Support

  • Provide financial insights and data to support strategic initiatives and ad hoc analysis.
  • Participate in system enhancements, process improvements, and other department-level projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or related degree/experience
  • 4+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years focused on commercial real estate with CAM reconciliations
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principles
  • Proficiency in property management/accounting software (Yardi experience highly preferred)
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and organizational abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Location Requirement:

Candidates must reside in one of the following states: Florida, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, or North Carolina.
