We are looking for an experienced Tax Accountant for a short term contract, this is 100% remote. The Tax Accountant will bring expertise in handling complex tax scenarios, including multi-state and international filings, and possess a strong background in public accounting.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct thorough reviews of individual income tax returns (Form 1040) to ensure compliance with federal, state, and international tax regulations.
• Verify the accurate reporting of pass-through income from partnerships and S-corporations.
• Assess multi-state tax filings for proper allocation and apportionment of income.
• Examine international compliance forms such as FinCEN Form 114, Form 8938, Form 1042, Form 5471, and Form 5472.
• Identify tax planning opportunities and recommend adjustments to optimize accuracy and compliance.
• Provide constructive feedback to preparers to enhance the quality of submitted tax returns.
• Maintain adherence to confidentiality standards and uphold the firm’s quality control policies.
• Collaborate effectively in a remote work environment to meet deadlines and manage workload.
• Ensure all reviewed returns align with the firm’s high standards for precision and completeness.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in public accounting, preferably with regional or mid-size firms.
• Advanced technical knowledge of individual income tax laws and regulations.
• Proficiency with CCH Axcess Tax or ProSystem fx Tax software.
• Demonstrated experience in reviewing complex tax returns, including those with K-1s, multi-state filings, and international reporting requirements.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote setting while meeting tight deadlines.
• CPA or EA certification is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with high-net-worth individual clients and their tax needs.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication abilities.
