Responsibilities
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Staff Accountant in Washington, DC. Summary: The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger reconciliations, and month-end close activities. This role ensures accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with company policies and accounting standards. Key Responsibilities: Accounts Payable & Receivable:
Process vendor invoices, expense reports, and check requests
Manage customer invoicing, collections, and payment application
Resolve payment discrepancies and maintain vendor and customer records
General Ledger Accounting
Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, adjustments, and reclassifications
Perform monthly general ledger account reconciliations
Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure proper transaction coding
Month-End & Year-End Close:
Assist with month-end closing processes to ensure deadlines are met
Support preparation of financial statements and internal reports
Compile and organize supporting documentation for auditors
Compliance & Internal Controls:
Ensure adherence to company accounting policies and US GAAP (or applicable standards)
Assist in implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
Other Duties
Support special projects and analyses assigned by management
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide accounting support for various initiatives
Proficiency in preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and maintaining chart of accounts
Ability to support closing processes and compile documentation for financial reporting and audits
Knowledge of accounting standards (e.g., US GAAP) and experience implementing process improvements
Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks, and collaborate across teams
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
