Staff Accountant

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant! This long-term contract position is based in Columbia, Maryland, and requires a hands-on approach to maintaining compliance, monitoring assets, and meeting deadlines. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality work in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and monitor fixed asset records.

• Process additions, retirements, transfers, and cost adjustments for fixed assets while meeting monthly and project deadlines.

• Calculate and post depreciation expenses for financial statements and internal reporting purposes.

• Reconcile detailed fixed asset records with general financial accounting records to ensure alignment.

• Prepare period-end reconciliations and compile quarterly audit schedules.

• Create intercompany invoices to document the transfer of fixed assets between entities.

• Assist fixed asset owners by ensuring capital items are promptly accounted for and providing guidance as needed.

• Prepare and post journal entries, including reclassifications to and from equipment-in-process accounts.

• Ensure timely closure of fixed asset accounts in alignment with reporting deadlines.

• Adhere to U.S. compliance standards and internal control requirements throughout all processes

• Proficiency in Oracle

• Strong knowledge of fixed asset accounting principles, including depreciation and reconciliation.

• Ability to prepare accurate journal entries and manage reclassifications for financial reporting.

• Familiarity with U.S. compliance standards and internal control requirements.

• Excellent organizational and time-management skills to meet deadlines.

• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.

• Effective communication skills to collaborate with asset owners and other stakeholders.
