An esteemed professional services firm in the DMV area is seeking a Director of Tax to spearhead their fiduciary and wealth transfer tax practices. This role offers the opportunity to lead within a growing international organization, providing comprehensive tax solutions to high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and private foundations.
We are seeking an experienced tax professional with extensive experience advising high-net-worth individuals, family offices, trustees, and private foundations on sophisticated tax matters. The role centers around providing fiduciary tax guidance, enhancing compliance processes, and managing tax-related risk across our trust entities and client portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Offer strategic tax insights to internal teams and clients, working closely with advisory, client service, and investment professionals.
Act as the main resource for complex fiduciary income tax matters and escalation.
Partner with external CPA firms to manage the preparation and filing of fiduciary tax returns.
Conduct tax research, identify issues, and deliver tailored solutions across a range of entities, including private foundations and business structures.
Monitor regulatory changes, ensuring the firm and clients remain fully compliant and proactive.
Provide internal education on tax topics such as retirement rules and international reporting requirements.
Assist in managing tax authority communications and dispute resolutions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; CPA and Master's in Taxation preferred.
10+ years of progressive tax experience.
Broad technical knowledge across fiduciary, partnership, wealth transfer, and charitable tax domains.
Experience managing compliance reviews, audits, and tax controversies.
