About The Role
The Utility Scale BD Director will be responsible for targeting, qualifying, and securing Operations and Maintenance contracts for utility-scale solar PV assets. This role is ideal for someone with a strong track record in sales or a deep background in PV asset management who is ready to leverage their industry expertise and relationships to drive business growth. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to build and nurture trust-based relationships with clients, presenting tailored, value-driven O&M solutions that align with customer needs.
Alternatively, candidates with hands-on experience in managing or operating utility-scale PV systems and a natural aptitude for sales are encouraged to apply. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to transition their technical or management expertise into a business development role.
Responsibilities Will Include But Are Not Limited To
Identify business opportunities by identifying prospects and evaluating their position in the industry; research and analyze sales options
Sell products by establishing contact and developing relationships with prospects; recommending solutions
Maintain relationships with clients by providing support, information, and guidance; researching and recommending new opportunities; recommending profit and service improvements
Identify offering improvements or new products by remaining current on industry trends, market activities, and competitors
Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information
Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, participating in professional societies
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Preparing quotations and tenders following Cleanleaf Energy sales process
Participating in budgeting and action planning, forecasting own sales performance, and developing own sales funnel
Utilize the most updated Pricing Model and specific project parameters, thoroughly comprehensive, detailed, and accurate analysis of new project proposals
Identify and vet applicable and profitable O&M opportunities (RFPs, referrals, etc.) within the solar industry for the Department
Log and track all relevant opportunities
Coordinate new project handoffs to the Field Operations team; remain involved until the customer has become integrated with Cleanleaf Energy 's operations
Respond to internal Cleanleaf Energy requests with O&M proposals and guarantees
Under the supervision and in parallel with the VP of Business Development, make contacts with solar industry customers to identify decision-makers within customer organizations
Required Skills & Experience
Up to 20% travel
Direct Utility PV industry experience
Direct Operations and Maintenance industry experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience
At least ten years of sales of operations managements experience
Ability to communicate in English both oral and written
Demonstrated ability to manage customer accounts with minimal direction from the Business Development VP and collaborate with other Account Executive team members
Ability to analyze and recommend solutions that solve complex customer requirements
Self-motivated, flexible, and well-organized team player with a positive attitude towards customer service and sales results
Excellent organizational and leadership skills
Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
Thorough understanding of diverse business processes and strategy development
Excellent knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and CMMS systems
Knowledge and understanding of solar plant construction and how onsite equipment interacts with the overall plant

The anticipated salary range for this position is $135,000 - $175,000 per year, with the potential to earn an additional $105,000 in commissions contingent upon meeting specified performance targets. Final compensation will be determined based on a comprehensive evaluation of the selected candidate’s experience, qualifications, and other relevant job-related factors.
