Choosing viewport shading modes
- [Instructor] To work effectively in 3ds Max, we need to have control over the viewport display. For example, whether a viewport is rendering in a shaded mode, such as we see in this default perspective view, mode, such as we see in this default perspective view or in a wire frame mode as we see in these default orthographic views. You may notice that my grid colors are different from yours. We'll see how to change those grid colors in the chapter on scene setup in the movie called "Defining the Home Grid." Let's look at the Viewport menu. In the upper left of each viewport panel, we have a menu that has four items by default. This menu is how we access all the menu commands, but it's also a heads up display. It's showing us the current settings of this viewport, and so the labels displayed on those menus will change depending upon the viewport settings.
