Glossary terms that don't fall into a particular category
- [Instructor] So we started out with a pretty long list of terms that fit into our engineer's glossary, and throughout the chapters we've addressed most of them, but there are some that have been left over, so I want to tackle each and every one of those here with you now. These are terms that require basically a ground up retooling, or building of a mix, and you'd hope that the terms like polished or shiny or clean sounding would precede the beginning of your mix, or conversely, they'd like it to be angry or grungy or garage-y. That's an overall aesthetic that you'd want to start with having in your head. I use a caveat there with caution. A lot of the mixer's job really is to give the producers what they want, not necessarily what they ask for. Myself, I personally hope that people just give me the music and don't say a word to me about their feelings, 'cause I'm almost always misinterpreting their comments, and they almost always don't know how to ask for what they want.
