- Let's say that you and your team have gone through all the actions you committed to for improving a problem situation. How will you know whether an improvement was achieved or not? One way is by measuring your problem after you've finished working on your actions to counter the problem and then comparing that information to the goals you agreed to achieve. This is where step seven on the A3 worksheet comes in. Here's how we can use metrics to validate whether improvements were achieved. In our case study, Out of Control, a manufacturing company, realized they had a problem when they discovered that their inventory accuracy was at 87%. Out of Control chose the A3 as the methodology to solve this problem, formed the team, and launched an action plan to counter the problem and once all actions were completed, first, the Out of Control team checked what the current level of inventory accuracy was and determined it to be 92%.
