Now that we've spoken briefly about why ERG is important, let's make sure we understand some key fundamental principles about Employee Resource Groups. So, principle number one is that ERGs need to just start measuring because you can't fix what you can't measure, right? So, for example I've spoken to some Latino employee resource group leaders who will say to me, Robert, our member engagement is down and which I often will ask them, well, how do you know it's down? Well, I just know it's down. It's not as good as it used to be. Well, how will you know when engagement is improved? Well, I'll just know when things are improved. Without metrics, it's difficult to track that. So, the very first principle of metrics is, is to create a metric that helps you measure things that you consider important to your ERG.
