- [Instructor] A lot of people don't know that you can open virtually any PDF in Illustrator no matter what application it was originally exported from. A lot of designers have a major misconception that Illustrator is a great PDF editor. If this was true, you would not get so many error messages when opening PDFs in Illustrator. You could see errors like some text needed to be outlined to preserve appearance, which has to do with transparency. And once you have the PDF open an illustrator, you quickly realize how complex this non-Illustrator PDF can be. If you have Adobe Illustrator, download the course files and open the folder 04.01_EditingInIllustrator. Start by trying to open the PDF file in the folder 04.01_EditingInIllustrator. Before the file opens, you should get an error message about convert color mode. What is that about?
