Create and animate a reel

- [Instructor] Whether you post Reels, YouTube Shorts, or videos on LinkedIn, creating and animating your designs have become more accessible over the years, and that has spiked the demand for video content. Luckily, you can easily make and edit videos in Adobe Express. Let's take this template we found and customize it. Once I open my template, I can see that the bottom window with my timeline opened up. Now I'm going to adjust the timeline a little bit more so that I can see more of it inside this page. And as I'm scrubbing or scrolling through the timeline, I can see that there's different scenes. If I want to add a new scene, I can click on add scene here, and it's going to automatically add it to my timeline. I can now delete it, duplicate the scene, and adjust the duration. Then in the bottom, I can see that there's some transitions. When I click on this icon, it'll tell me that it has a type of dissolve transition, and I can either remove the transition, or apply a new transition to all the scenes. Let's keep it as is. What I want to start doing is modifying this to fit our brand, and I'm going to apply the brand that we're working with. What it's going to do is that it applies the styles to the entire design here, every single one of the scenes in one go. So this will save me a lot of time. Now I'm going to go in and make a few more adjustments. I do want to make sure I change the background color of these graphics over here. And as I clicked on the image, it told me that it has a duotone style effect. So I want to adjust this to use some of our brand colors. So I clicked on custom and I make sure I have our brand kit selected. If you don't have that selected, click on this icon over here and select the brand that you want to work with. Once you do that, you'll see your brand colors, and now I can start adjusting what colors I want for my shadows and for my highlights. Now that I've added that to all of my scenes, I can start to make a few more edits. Now, when I'm scrubbing through here, I see that there's a transition that I don't really want. I don't really like that it starts with a solid color, so I can start selecting on these elements and seeing what type of animation is applied. When I click on any element, it'll bring a window to the far left, and I see that it has an animation with a fade in. I'm just going to click on none. I don't want it to fade in. And I also notice in my timeline that this starts a little bit later. I'm going to drag this over so that this image appears in the very beginning, and I'll repeat the same process to each of the elements that I see with a fade in. Now I can go in and double click to edit the text. And let's say we're starting a hiking club in Las Vegas. I'm going to move this over here, and then I'm going to change the fill color so that it's easier to see. And I'm going to duplicate this because I want to make sure that people know who is hosting this. Now let's make a few more changes. I want to change this background image to a video. So I'm going to go to media, I'm going to click on videos, and I'm going to search for a video for someone hiking. And I really like this one, so I'm going to select this, and now it adds it to my timeline and I want to fit the video. I want it to just take up all the space. Next, I will drag this to the very bottom, and I see that it gets cropped off a little bit more, so I'm adjusting the size and bringing it further down. This looks pretty good, and as I do a little preview, I can see that I can adjust the timeline, or the portion of the video that I want to appear on my timeline. This looks pretty good. I'm happy with that. Now let's make a couple more changes. I want to create a spinning seal that looks something like this. So, let me show you how to do this. I am going to head over to my brand kits, and in my brand kit, I have some assets that are some seals. I'm going to click on that and I'm going to leave it large for now. What I'm going to do is I'm going to duplicate that same exact one. I'm going to lay it over right on top of it, so it's aligned with the one under the bottom. Then I'm going to click on crop. I'm going to crop it as a circle, and I want to make sure that I crop it right to the very center of the seal. Okay, that looks great. And now I can see a preview on my layers in the far right. Next, what I want to do is select the seal on the bottom. I'm going to give it an animation and I'm going to give it a loop animation. I'm going to select spin, and I can adjust the intensity. I might just want it a little bit slower so that it's not so hard to read, and that looks pretty good. Then I'll make sure that I select both portions of the seal and group them. Now I can decrease the size and place it over my design. I can also copy this and add it to a different scene. Now, I want to replace this background image with one that actually is of Red Rock Canyon. It's a beautiful place, so I want to use one of my photos. I'm going to click on upload, and I'm going to upload that image. Now, I want this to be my background, so I'm going to click on replace as page background. Then I can double click and adjust the image so that it shows a little bit more of this beautiful place. And now I want to make a couple more edits. I really wish there was a video of me with my arms open so that people could see this beauty here. But since I don't have that, I'm going to look under media, and I'm going to look for a video of a woman hiking. So, this might take a while to find the right video. And what I ended up doing is once I found that video, I gave it a favorite so that I could find it later. I'm going to go to your stuff and under my favorites, I can see this video here. Once I click on it, then I can click on remove background. It's going to take a little bit to process to remove the background, and once it's done, we'll be able to adjust it. Now, I see this video is added to my timeline and the background has been cropped out. So I can bring this over here and add it to my last little piece, and you can see that it does this beautiful little addition to my design. Now let's do one very, very last thing. Let's add some music to make it more engaging. We're going to go back to media and we're going to go look under audio. Now I can look at a bunch of different options, and once I find one that I like, I can click on this and it's going to add it to my timeline. And we will end up with something like this. (upbeat music) The more you explore using video and animations in Adobe Express, you'll be able to create faster, and customize your designs from start to finish.
