- You've seen that lean thinking encourages you to develop products in smaller batches with shorter queue sizes. But people in large organizations believe that big projects require large batches of work. They wait until that work is finished and then hand it off to the next group. But the reality is, is that's usually not very efficient. If you're coaching an organization, it's difficult to show people that what feels right for them, isn't good for everyone else. So when that happens, you might want to try something like the Penny Game. The game works best with five or more people. Start by assigning each person a functional area. One person will represent marketing. Another will represent business analysts. The third will represent software developers. The fourth will represent operations people.
