Geospatial customization provides additional mapping options and tool extensibility, including custom formatting, third party maps, and custom background images. Advanced formatting tools and third party maps enable a deep level of customization within Tableau desktop. Third party maps can include a variety of different options. You can think of weather maps, population, and more. Custom backgrounds allow you to customize visuals or create non-traditional maps. Non-traditional maps can include office spaces, factory floor plans, manufacturing plants. Really anything that you can map out in a 2D space can be imported as a background image. You might not think these are technically maps, but if they have XY coordinates and a visual components that people will reference, then we can leverage them as maps inside Tableau.
