- [Instructor] Welcome to another After Effects weekly tip. This one is all about reference text layers that can be useful for many things. From raw data to responsive design elements. So to demonstrate this neat feature, I'll create a new composition based on the HDTV 1080 25 preset with a duration of 14 seconds. I'll drag this beats audio file that I already imported to this project and also create a new solid layer. To this solid, I'll apply the audio spectrum effect that you can find under the generate category and I'll set the audio layer to the beat.m4a sound that I have in this comp. Now let's preview the comp to see what we got by default. (upbeat music) A cooler representation of the audio spectrum for this sound. Now we can also improve it a bit by changing few of the settings here in the effect. So I'll start by setting the start frequency to 50. Then I'll tap to the end frequency.
