AI at the edge vs. cloud
- [Instructor] One common debate you will hear often when working with IoT is whether it is on the edge or cloud. The same question applies to AI. Does the AI reside on the edge of a connected product or does it reside on the cloud? Edge is when the data and AI resides at the edge of a device or a set of devices. Note that we are talking about data on the edge and AI on the edge. They can be two different things, and we'll learn the difference soon. Cloud is when the data is sent to the internet to a cloud server. Let us look at some examples to understand where you will be using this at work. For example, data can be collected when you type on your phone. This data can reside on the edge of the phone device or this data can be sent to a cloud server to train an AI to be used by several people from several locations. Can you imagine what such an AI could be that your data is training to help millions of others around…
