Bias, limitations, and controversy

- [Instructor] Although the focus of this course is about how text-to-image generation models work, there are many challenges that you need to be aware of. You know, a big worry with these text-to-image models is the copyright side of things. They're trained on these massive image datasets, which could very well include artwork, photos, and other copyrighted stuff without proper licenses or permissions from the creators. So it raises some tricky legal questions, like: Are we infringing on artists' and photographers' rights by using these models and the images they generate? And at the moment, there are a couple of ongoing lawsuits between model providers and artists. And I can't see this going away anytime soon. And since these models learn from data, any biases or skewed representations in the training datasets can also get captured in images they generate. So if the data lacks diversity or promotes stereotyping, the model outputs might start echoing these stereotypes about different…
