- Being under the spotlight is a difficult place for many introverts to be, but as introvert author Susan Cain wrote, "Everyone shines given the right lighting." In other words, you need to find ways to showcase your most authentic self. In an extrovert society, introverts feel the pressure to act like extroverts in order to get ahead in their careers. To hone authentic visibility as an introvert, you must become your own self-advocate. You can embrace showing up anywhere as your best self without changing the core of who you are. Defining what success for you is is a way to start being true to yourself. Extroverted measures of success may seem more visible in society, like a promotion or public recognition for one's achievements. Defining success is very personable. It varies depending on whether you are introverted or extroverted. For introverts, success can be less obvious. It could just be the ability to analyze a problem or find a new solution.
