- Preparation for any interview should be focused around the value you bring to the company and how you can help them achieve their goals. Your entire preparation strategy should focus around two things: how will you fit into the company's culture and how will you solve the problems facing the company? To focus on the problems of the company, you'll need to start with research. Research and research some more. Many interview candidates do not do enough research, so you'll stand out from the pack when you do. Your best sources of knowledge will come from talking to current employees. That is why networking is so critical throughout the job search process. A referral is often what helps candidates make it to the initial interview. In fact, referrals remain to be the main source of new company hires.
