Place a shaft in an assembly
- One of the things that you'll offen have to do in your AutoCAD Mechanical drawings is insert a shaft into an assembly. So we've got a new drawing for you to do that and it's called shaft001_assembly.dwg, you can download it from the library as usual to follow along with the video. Once you've got it downloaded and opened, zoom in on the right hand view, the one with the cross hatching, the sectional view, and we're going to place a shaft in that center piece here going all the way across here. So we're now going to go to the content tab on the ribbon, in to the shaft panel here and select shaft generator. Now the starting point will be this mid point snap here on the support part, now you'll notice my midpoint snap isn't appearing, just go down to your object snaps, click on the arrow, make sure that midpoint is on as one of your running object snaps, click on the arrow again and then we can select the midpoint snap here.
