Public and private hosted zones
Here we have the Route 53's hosted zone. And this hosted zone can be a public hosted zone or it can be a private hosted zone. One of the nice things about a private hosted zone is it's a great way to figure out the functionality of how the Route 53 hosted zone interface works. Let's go ahead and select private hosted zone here. And if we go through in, select an example dot com, we can put a description here. Always a good idea to put in a description when you're creating the hosted zone. This is a two-way example. If we scroll down here, notice that it says VPCs to associate with the hosted zones. To use those two zone, you have to associate one or more VPCs. And so we're going to go ahead and select US East here. And we'll go ahead and pick the default zone here. All right. Let's go ahead and create a hosted zone now. And now we've got this hosted zone. What we can do is go through here and create a record in one of these hosted zones.
