From the course: Become a Generative AI Power Prompter and Content Designer
What you should know
If you want to get the most out of this course, there are a few things you should already know and have on hand. The basics, of course, like a laptop or a desktop, an internet connection, and a familiarity with using browsers like Chrome and Edge, and traditional search engines like Google and Bing. You should also have at least a little experience working with at least one GenAI tool, like a ChatGPT, or Claude, or Copilot. After all, this course aims to up-level your prompting skills, so it is assumed that you already know what prompting is. If you don't know, a prompt consists of your question or command that initiates the generative AI tool to work out a response. If you haven't tried using a GenAI tool before, I suggest you go to ChatGPT.com, sign up for the free version, and make a few prompts. Just ask it anything just to get a feel for how this process generally works. That will help you better understand the techniques taught in this course. If you already are great at prompting, don't worry, I'm not going to drag you through a lot of the basics. Instead, I offer a quick recap on the basics just to make sure everyone is up to speed before we proceed. It's highly likely that you'll find something new in the recap, even if you've been prompting for a while. Once you get deeper into this course, you'll see a list of suggested GenAI tools in different segments. It isn't necessary for you to use those specific tools in order to follow along or to complete this course. You can use other similar tools if you prefer. But you will need a few of the suggested tools if you decide to do the practice work. I tried to suggest free or inexpensive GenAI tools for this purpose. Odds are that once you master these techniques, you'll keep a few of those tools on hand to build your own AI toolkit. All right then, if you're ready, here we go.
