- Do you want to rise to the highest levels in your organization? If so, you should consider pursuing leadership roles. Once you've gotten some practical experience under your belt, you can begin positioning yourself to become a leader, such as a VP, or maybe even a CEO. Let's look at three ways you can prepare yourself for a leadership role. One, adopt holistic thinking. When problems arise, and they will, it can be extremely tempting to overanalyze problems by dissecting them into smaller and smaller parts, until you come to the most logical conclusion. While this may be a good approach if you're a technical expert, it's not the best if you're positioning yourself to move up the ranks. A higher level of thinking is required.
