- A lot of people wander from one job to the next without a plan, but like Yogi Berra said, "If you don't know where you're going, you might not get there." Now it's impossible to know exactly where your career will lead, but if you're willing to invest some time in setting goals, then it's easier to recognize good opportunities when they appear and to avoid detours along the way. Here I'll show you how to focus in on your career goals by asking three simple questions. First, what are the things that you enjoy doing? Do you like working with other people? How about solving problems and analyzing data? I know it sounds simple, but being honest with yourself about the things that you like doing and the things that you don't like to do can be harder than it sounds. So here's a trick. Ask your friends and family what they think you really enjoy doing. You might be surprised at how easy it is for someone else to see your strengths and weaknesses.
