Legal risk and compliance issues in the cloud
- Today's computing environment is full of legal, regulatory and compliance issues. It seems like legislators, government agencies, and regulatory bodies add new responsibilities to our plates every year while never removing any of our existing obligations. A flurry of recent high-profile security incidents means that many of those legal and regulatory concerns are specifically focused on cyber security. When we move our computing resources to the cloud, that impacts our legal compliance. In some cases, it simplifies the situation by transferring some compliance responsibility to our service providers. While in other cases, compliance becomes more complicated when we must monitor the compliance of our providers with the regulations that affect our business. The shared responsibility model becomes very real in the world of cloud compliance. Cloud security professionals must have a strong understanding of the shared responsibility model and how it impacts the compliance obligations of their own operations and those of their customers. Businesses need skilled cloud security professionals with this legal, regulatory and compliance background. The Certified Cloud Security Professional, or CCSP certification is a path that many technologists follow to advance their careers in this high-demand field. Hi, I'm Mike Chapple, and I'd like to invite you to watch my course on cloud legal risk and compliance issues. It's part of a seven-course series preparing you for the CCSP exam. I hope that you'll join me as we explore the importance of operating cloud computing resources in a compliant fashion.
