- [Instructor] Windows Defender has been a part of the Windows operating system since Windows XP and has evolved from its introduction there as a simple anti-spyware program to the full-fledged antivirus solution it is today. You can open this from Start, Settings, Privacy and Security, and Window Security. From there, click Open Window Security. If everything looks green, your computer is healthy. If you see anything that isn't though, look into that right away and resolve the issues. Now we'll click Virus and Threat Protection. This offers a place to perform a manual scan if you feel your computer has been recently compromised. You can also review protection settings, protection updates, and ransomware settings. Click Manage Settings under Virus and Threat Protection Settings to see what's offered here. There are a lot of options. Notice they're all on.
