- HR professionals are tasked with driving employee engagement, reducing turnover, and finding top talent. But with so many decisions to make, how do we ensure they're the right ones? That's where data analysis transforms intuition into informed action. This strategic function of HR is how HR pros demonstrate our value to organizations. Data can be analyzed using either quantitative or qualitative methods. Quantitative research uses numerical data, and the goal is to make generalizations about the population you're examining. Qualitative research uses subjective data gathered through observations, interviews, open-ended surveys, and other tools. The goal of qualitative research is to identify themes that help the researcher, or in this case the HR professional, understand complex situations and context.
