Wireless LAN (WLAN) designs

Wireless LAN (WLAN) designs

(soft music) - [Instructor] Let's consider a few different wireless designs. One of the most basic designs is where we have one wireless client communicating directly with another wireless client. Notice that we don't have any sort of infrastructure in place here. We're not going to an access point. Nothing is connected to an ethernet switch. We're just talking directly between these devices. And this is good for ad hoc communication. In fact, this is called an ad hoc wireless LAN, which means if I just need to transfer a file really quickly, maybe from my laptop to your laptop, or if I'm doing something like AirDrop on an Apple iPhone, those would be examples of using an ad hoc wireless LAN.
