- [Instructor] When it comes to IPv4 addressing, I've got some bad news and the bad news is we're out of IPv4 addresses. And what I mean by that is you can no longer go to your country's numbering authority and say, "Hey, I would like a class C block of IP addresses." There are none available. In fact, about all you can hope for is one or maybe a few IP addresses that are publicly routable that you can get from your internet service provider. Those are public IPv4 addresses. Now, when we talk about a public IPv4 address, we mean that it is routable around the internet. However, we just said we don't have enough of these to go around. So if I'm putting up a new office building and it's going to have a thousand clients inside of it, how do I give all those clients a unique IPv4 address if we don't have enough addresses?
