- As we saw in an earlier section, Jira sends email notifications to licensed users with a notification scheme. JSM uses a different mechanism to send message to customers, however. Unlike Jira email notifications, JSM customer notifications are customizable. In this section, we'll modify some message content and formatting as an example. Let's change some notification template settings so we can brand and customize the content. Access the message JSM sends from the customer notifications page in a service project settings. Let's look at the template features at the top of the page first. Click the edit templates button to modify the subject line and manage styles. Changes made here apply to all customer notification messages. I'll make a small customization as an example. First, I'll customize the email subject line by adding the name of the portal and a greater than sign as a separator. Click insert variable to see the available variable options.
